BIMTECH introduces Business Vertical Specialisation under PGDM Program

The Post Graduate Diploma in Management (PGDM) program of BIMTECH New Delhi has recently launched “Business Vertical Specialisation”, in addition to functional specialization. Many new sectors have come up in past few years such as Data Analytics, while some other sectors like BFSI and IT/ ITES are growing fast.

Contributing to the Employer

BIMTECH has been striving hard to walk shoulder to shoulder with the industry and optimizing academics in to align it with the industry needs. In line with the changing needs of the industry, the combination of Functional + Business vertical specialization will groom the PGDM program students in such a way that they can start contributing to the organisation right from day one. To make the education more industry oriented, BIMTECH has already taken several initiatives such as experiential learning which includes personal branding and executive presence. The students are being taught the latest concepts in the industry ranging from data storytelling to brand storytelling on social media.

Executing with Finesse

Good ideas also need effective execution, which has been well planned and formulated. Now the students will study 8 subjects of business vertical specialization (spread over 4 trimesters) in addition to 8 subjects of functional specialization. To avoid overload on students, some courses which have not been very effective in meeting industry needs have been removed.

Dr L. Ramani Iyer, Programme Chairperson - PGDM, BIMTECH said, “Three Business Vertical Specializations have been introduced currently viz. BFSI, IT&ITES and Analytics. The purpose of introducing these vertical is to ensure student has complete understanding of their domain and be better prepared for career ahead. BFSI contributes to roughly 40% placement across B Schools in India, IT-ITES Contributes to around 20% placements and Analytics is also in high demand.”

He added, “These specializations are in addition to the functional specialisation which includes marketing, finance, HR and operations. Students from any functional specialization can join any of the vertical specialisations mentioned above.”  BlogsWire
